Today's Topic - Anxiety
Anxiety has been one of my challenges in life and this quote reminds me that I'm not alone. Maybe not everyone understands anxiety but anyone who has suffered from it get's it. It's a very real feeling but can also be a bit self inflicted.
Isn't it interesting that we don't think about breathing until we can't breathe? Breathing is one of the best way to calm down. I learned a little meditation years ago, breathe in for 4 counts, hold breath for 4 counts, let it out for 4 counts. The in & out breath needs to be slow and consistent but it works and always calms me down.
We may not ever master the art of anxiety but we can learn to manage it and not allow it to be so big. Breathing and bringing ourselves back to the present moment help. It takes practice and I still forget to breath at times but the awareness that I have the power to calm myself down gives me some peace.
